Course Pricing Options: Enjoy the same Flexibility and Functionality as in Bundle-Style Pricing

Excited to announce that the new course pricing setup options are now live!

This update provides more flexibility and a streamlined process for managing course prices. Additionally, the new system aligns with the existing bundle pricing settings, ensuring a consistent and more efficient experience for handling both individual courses and bundles.

Please watch the video to learn how to implement the pricing changes on your content.

Note: You may also need to make changes to the way you show the pricing of your content on the landing pages. For more details, please refer to the article below.

    Why is this change necessary?

This change is necessary to enable us to add more global currencies and support them on the platform, alongside existing payment integrations such as PayPal (available globally with a few exceptions), Stripe (available globally with a few exceptions), Razorpay (available in India, Malaysia, and Singapore), and CCAvenue (available in India, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia).

    What are the major changes?

The major changes affect how you previously set up INR and USD pricing for a course. Here’s how you used to do it on the course publishing page:

Now, this experience has changed to :

In the screenshot above, you now have the option to create "Free" and "One-Time Payment" pricing plans. Clicking on "Add Free Price Plan" opens the following popup :

Please note that you have the option to enter a price plan name and set the course expiry in days, weeks, months, or years. If someone purchases the course using this price plan, their access will automatically end based on the defined course expiry setting.

Adding a "One-Time Payment" price plan opens the following popup :

Please note that you have the option to enter the

    - Price Plan Name,
    - Currency
    - Amount

    - Course expiry in days, weeks, months, or years.

If someone purchases the course using this price plan, their access will automatically end based on the specified course expiry setting. Once the price plan is created, it will be listed in a table, as shown below :

These price plans are also visible on the landing page builder to help you connect the checkout link. Here’s how it looks :

As you know, courses are listed with a price on the course library page or in the course library section. For this, we have introduced a setting called 'Set a Default' within the course price plan.

You can select any one price plan as the default, which will be displayed on the course library and in the course library section on the landing page. Please refer to the screenshot below.

Those are all the primary changes coming to the UI.

The checkout link format will also change when you connect buttons with the checkout link. Here’s what it looked like earlier and how it appears now :

A new query string parameter, 'coursepriceid', has been added to the course checkout link.

Why should you review pricing with this new release?

We have developed well-reviewed and tested strategies for performing the migration. With the automated migration, your courses and their prices will transition automatically to the new format.

Here are the details regarding the transition by currency:

    • If the course has a price of 0 INR (i.e., free) and 0 USD (i.e., free) : In this case, the system will automatically create a 0 INR price plan, and you won’t need to review anything.
    • If the course has a non-zero INR price and a 0 USD price : In this case, the system will automatically create a non-zero INR price plan, and you won’t need to review anything.
    •  the course has a 0 INR price and a non-zero USD price : In this case, the system will automatically create a non-zero USD price plan, and you won’t need to review anything.
    • If the course has both non-zero INR and non-zero USD prices : In this case, the system will create both a non-zero INR price plan and a non-zero USD price plan. The migration is designed to default to INR if both prices are provided and the old checkout link is being used. This review is necessary because our automated migration cannot determine your target audience and their appropriate landing page. Ideally, you should create a separate landing page to promote each currency you wish to sell in. Each landing page may have digital advertisements running, and their underlying API expects to have a single currency on a single landing page. Hence, this landing page separation and your manual review is required.

When will this change go live?

We expect it to be ready for release in the first week of November. You will receive a notification regarding this planned release in advance, as well as a post-release notification, so you can review the prices migrated for your courses.

    Update 1

The release is scheduled for 5th November 2024, starting at 11 PM IST.

    Update 2

Production release was successful. The feature is now live!

    Stay tuned for further details.
