How to add voiceover on PowerPoint presentations and create voiceover based course videos?
Creating engaging presentations can be significantly enhanced by adding a voiceover, and Microsoft PPT provides tools that make this integration seamless. Below, we have explained how to record a voiceover directly within your next ppt and convert the presentation into a video.
Enable recording on PPT
To start recording your narration, you need to enable the Record tab in PowerPoint. Follow the steps shown below to enable recording on your PPT if not activated already.
Here's how to complete the process:
Open your PowerPoint presentation and click on File
Click on Options
Then under Customize Ribbon, under Main Tabs, find and check the box next to Record
Click OK
The Record tab will now be visible in the ribbon at the top of the PPT.
Add narration to your PPT slides
Adding a personal touch to your presentation slides with your voice can make them more informative and engaging.
Here's how to complete the process:
Connect your microphone to your computer
In the top menu, click on Slideshow and then click Record
On the Record Slideshow pop-up, select what you want to record before you begin recording:
Slide and animation timings
Narrations, ink and laser pointer
Click Start Recording
After the 3 second countdown timer stops, Start recording your narration
Click → on the keyboard to move to the next slides
Record the narration per slide
Recording will stop automatically once you reach the last slide
Review your recording and make any necessary edits as needed
Convert your PPT slides into a video
After adding your voiceover, the next step is to convert your enhanced presentation into a video, making it easy to share and distribute.
Here's how to complete the process:
Click on home
Here, you have two options for conversion and saving the file:
Export To Video
Click on Export to Video
Under Export, select Create a Video
Select video quality and format.
Click on Create Video to export it
Save As Option
Click File and select Save As
Choose a file storage folder
Under Save As Type, select MP4 or WMV
Choose your preferred method and settings
Start the export or save process
Your PowerPoint will convert your narrated presentation into a video file.
By following these detailed steps, you can effectively transform your standard PowerPoint presentations into dynamic videos enriched with your voice commentary, enhancing the viewer's experience and understanding.
Important Considerations
Please complete your narration before you move to the next slide to ensure the entire section is recorded on one slide else you risk spillover of the narration to the other slides.
You can redo the narration of a specific slide by clicking on Slideshow and then Record and from the dropdown select the current slide.
Ensure that the system has an enabled microphone connected for the narration.
