Passwordless signup is built into Enhanced Checkout. There is no separate passwordless setting to turn on. Enable Enhanced Checkout on a course or bundle and the password field is removed automatically for new users. Enhanced Checkout is the default checkout type on new Edbound AI accounts, so passwordless signup is already active unless you have changed it.

How to let users sign up without entering a password?
Password-less signup is built into Enhanced Checkout. There is no separate password-less setting to turn on. Enable Enhanced Checkout on a course or bundle and the password field is removed automatically for new users.
To enable it:
- Access your admin dashboard
- Click Courses & Bundles > Courses or Bundles
- Select the course or bundle you want to configure
- Click Checkout
- Under Checkout type, select Enable enhanced checkout
- Click Save Changes
After signup, an alphanumeric password is generated automatically and the user is never asked to create one. It is emailed to them along with a link to change it. The user can change it from that link, or from Forgot Password on your login page.
Tip: This article covers password behavior only. To learn how to setup enhanced checkouts, customize button text, fields and checkout page content, see
Enhanced Checkout.
Tip: To set the checkout type for every new course and bundle you create, go to Settings > Signup and Checkout > Checkout. Enhanced Checkout supports passwordless signup only, so any course or bundle using it will never ask a new user for a password. How to make a password mandatory for users?
A mandatory password applies to the signup form and Regular Checkout only. It has no effect on Enhanced Checkout. This is done in two steps. Make the field mandatory in your global settings, then switch the course or bundle to Regular Checkout.
Make the Password field mandatory:
- Go to Settings > Signup and Checkout > Custom Fields
- Click the edit icon on the Password field
- Select Display on signup and regular checkout
- Click Save
Switch the course or bundle to Regular Checkout:
- Click Courses & Bundles > Courses or Bundles
- Select the course or bundle you want to configure
- Click Checkout
- Under Checkout type, select Enable regular checkout
- Click Save Changes
To confirm what your users see, click Preview or open your site URL in an incognito window and run through the flow.
Note: Enhanced Checkout never asks new users for a password. As such the password field will not appear in the Enhanced Checkout custom fields list on a course or bundle, even after you have made it mandatory in Settings > Signup and Checkout > Custom Fields. The mandatory setting applies only to the signup form and Regular Checkout.
How can users set or reset their password?
Users have two routes, and admins have a third.
- From the signup email. The user clicks the link in the email received after signup and sets a new password.
- From Forgot Password. The user clicks Forgot Password on your login page, receives a reset email, then clicks the link to set a new password.
- From your dashboard. You can reset a password on the user's behalf. See Access user settings to change the profile name, email, password and phone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a user being asked for a password on Enhanced Checkout?
Because the email they entered already exists as a user on your site. The system matches the email against your user records and shows the password field.
Can I require a password on Enhanced Checkout?
No. Password-less signup is the default option in Enhanced Checkout and cannot be turned off. To require a password on a course or bundle, switch it to Regular Checkout.
What password does the user get if they never created one?
An alphanumeric password is generated automatically at signup and emailed to them, along with a link to change it.
Does the password-less signup work for free courses as well as paid?
Yes. Enhanced Checkout works for both free and paid courses and bundles.
I made the password mandatory but it is not showing on my checkout page. Why?
That course or bundle is most likely still using Enhanced Checkout which never asks new users for a password. Switch it to Regular Checkout under Checkout type, then click Preview or test in an incognito window.
The user never received the password email. What now?
Ask them to check spam and promotions folders first. They can also set a password without the email by clicking Forgot Password on your login page. Additionally, you can
reset the user's password for them from your dashboard.
