We released multiple pricing options for courses on November 6, 2024. With that release, we recommended to move to the new pricing course checkout links and update all checkout links and call-to-action on their landing pages. However, even after a year, we still see customers using the old course checkout links. Therefore, we now strongly recommend implementing this change.
We also have good news: We now have a tool that can tell you whether your page still contains any legacy course checkout links. We will discuss this tool later in this FAQ.
Note: If your course or landing pages were created after November 2024, you may not need to take any action, as they likely already use the new checkout links. However, we still recommend scanning your pages to confirm readiness and ensure compatibility with upcoming product releases.
Understanding legacy course checkout links vs new course checkout links
In a checkout link, if you do not see "coursepriceid={some-id-here}", then it is a legacy course checkout link. Refer to the attached screenshot for a visual comparison.
Why is it important to update to the new course checkout links?
During the development of multiple pricing options for courses, we implemented fallback logic that automatically selects the latest price from the list if no specific price ID is provided in the checkout link.
This fallback logic has a significant limitation: whenever a new price is created, it automatically becomes the default fallback price. This can cause serious issues, particularly if the newest price is set to free (e.g., the system may unintentionally direct users to a free version instead of a paid one).
We are working on a brand-new feature called "Enhanced Checkout," which will require all legacy course checkout links to be updated to the new checkout links.
We listened to customer feedback and are building a new checkout type - "Enhanced Checkout" - that provides a modern, advanced, low-friction checkout experience with no login or password required. It eliminates the need for a password during checkout: new users automatically receive one via email, while existing users can request one if needed. This allows buyers to complete their purchase and access content instantly, with zero extra friction. You can fully customize this new checkout page for every course and bundle: craft AI-assisted sales copy and pitches, embed demo videos, or add images. You can choose exactly which fields appear on each checkout page, plus explore a wide range of advanced settings.
How to update?
We have released a feature that scans your page and tells you whether it contains any legacy course checkout links. The tool is now available under Dashboard > Website Builder > Pages. On this page, click the “Recheck” button next to each page in the pages list. Clicking the Recheck button will return either Yes or No.
If you see “No”, you are good to go and no action is needed.
If you see “Yes”, it means the page still contains an old legacy course checkout link.
If you don't see either Yes or No, then you need to click on Recheck button again.
We recommend that you continue scanning until it shows “No”, so that your landing pages are fully transitioned to the new course checkout links.
Refer to the video recording, which explains how to scan and update legacy course checkout links on the affected pages.
What will happen if we don’t update it by January 20, 2026?
Enhanced Checkout is expected to be released on January 20, 2026, after which legacy course checkout links will stop working.
