Connect or remove a WhatsApp Business number to your account

Set up your WhatsApp Business API account from your dashboard and manage connected phone numbers whenever required. The WhatsApp Settings section also allows you to monitor connected numbers, verification status, quality rating, messaging limits, and Meta sync status from one place.

AlertIMP NOTE: You must warm up your Whatsapp for Business account by gradually increasing the number of messages sent. Sending too many messages too quickly will lead to the WhatsApp account health rating dropping and may even lead to blocking of your account by Meta. 

Connect a WhatsApp Business Number

Start the Meta onboarding process to connect your WhatsApp Business number with Edbound AI.

  1. Log in to your Edbound AI dashboard
  2. Navigate to WhatsApp > Settings > Connect Phone Number

  1. Click on Login With Facebook
  2. Log in to your Facebook account and confirm access
  3. Choose an existing business profile or create a new one
  4. Enter the WhatsApp Business account name, display name and category
  5. Add the WhatsApp phone number
  6. Verify the number using the OTP sent by WhatsApp
  7. Complete the onboarding process to link the number with Edbound AI

InfoNote: Basis Meta's connectivity and approvals, it may take up to 30 minutes for the account to be synced and connected. 

Remove an Existing WhatsApp Business Number

Here's how to remove a connected WhatsApp Business number directly from the settings section whenever needed.


Follow these steps to replace your number:
  1. Navigate to WhatsApp > Settings
  2. Locate the connected WhatsApp number
  3. Click on the settings icon under Actions
  4. Click on Remove Number

  1. Review the disconnect warning message carefully
  2. Click on Disconnect to confirm the removal
Once done, your number will be disconnected and you may now add a new number if required.

Note: Disconnecting a WhatsApp Business number will remove/stop all campaigns and templates associated with that number, stop campaign messaging for the disconnected number and require Meta verification again if you reconnect the same number in the future

Important Considerations
  • You must have a valid and a dedicated phone number.
  • It is mandatory to have GST number for billing on WhatsApp Business API.

  • Your business must adhere to WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
  • You must use a new number which isn't already registered with WhatsApp.
  • In case the number is already registered with WhatsApp, please delete the account, wait for 10 minutes and try again. 
  • We highly recommend using a new phone number for the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) as it must be used exclusively for WhatsApp Business Platform (API). You can migrate your phone number registered with WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business App to use it with WhatsApp Business Platform (API)
  • You will receive a verification code to authenticate your number on our platform.
  • You must have a personal Facebook account (linked to your business email).
  • Keep your Meta business account created and logged in on this system.
  • You must authenticate it before you start the onboarding process. To authenticate your business account, open this link on a separate tab.
  • You must now generate a code in your authentication app and enter it in the 'Enter code' field.
  • You must have your business details at hand: your company's legal name and address, as well as your business account as you want to display it.
  • You must have a valid business website.
  • It is required that you verify your account with Meta as soon as possible. A verified business can start to send 1k messages/day. Refer to this documentation about messaging limits. Refer to this documentation to learn about business account and verification.
  • As per Meta's policy, an unverified business account can only be linked to two numbers, verify your account to link your account with more numbers.
  • Before proceeding further turn off two-step verification on WhatsApp manager for easy onboarding, refer to this documentation. We will configure two-step verification automatically at the end of onboarding through API calls. Don't worry, this is not your Facebook account two-step verification, but business phone number's two-step verification for WhatsApp Cloud API.
  • To get a blue tick on WhatsApp, we can only assist with the application process, but it is necessary to adhere to the policies and requirements set by Meta.
